TLC AAC Enrichment Program
Many children’s lives are transformed when they are introduced to AAC (Alternative and Augmentative Communication). It is a very powerful tool that breaths personality and life into the children who touches it. It is beneficial for any child especially those who are nonverbal or has
limited verbal ability due to various reasons. Depending on their cognitive ability and receptive language skills, the AAC employed can vary from low technology to high technology. AAC not only support communication for the child, it also aids the development of expression speech and language.
What the Program Offers?
- 3-5x weekly 2-hour sessions
- Individualised Educational Plans (IEPs)
- Small group sessions to encourage peer interaction using AAC
- Trained Educators/Therapists to assist children with language, literacy, numeracy and STEM learning through specialised AAC programs
- Specialised Speech therapist consultations
- Evidence-based AAC curriculum and latest AAC technology
Program Objectives:
The students will:
- Engage in social interaction and communication with others using all modes of communication, including AAC
- Learn to communicate about learned content in a collaborative environment using AAC
- Make choices and decisions through learning projects
- Participate in community activities and self-advocacy
