Educational Psychology
Our Psychologists help children with:
Assessment and Diagnosis
Social Issues and Anxiety
Parenting Counselling and Strategies
School Placement and Academic Learning Concerns
Behavioral Difficulties (e.g., Inattention, Hyperactivity)
Psychological Assessments
We provide psychological initial consultations and diagnostic assessments including school placements and IQ assessments. Some examples are: Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children (WISC), Wechsler Preschool and Primary Scale of Intelligence (WPPSI), Wechsler Individual Achievement Test (WIAT), Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS), Autism Diagnostic Interview (ADI-R) or a variety of questionnaires for teachers and parents, depending on the purpose of the assessment.
Psychological Intervention
Depending on the concerns raised, the psychologist may conduct individualised sessions with the child to teach specific skills or to address social-emotional issues through counseling or play therapy sessions.
Group sessions with peers may also be organised when there are concerns about social skills. Parent coaching sessions may be recommended to address literacy, reading and behavioural issues. Group sessions for parents with similar concerns may be beneficial as parents pick up strategies on teaching their children effectively, building strong positive relationships and to support their children in their long-term development.
